The Fire Summer Art Camps
Looking for a way to harness all that creative energy in your son or daughter this summer? Let The Fire's summer art camps help you out! Now in our fourth year, our goal is to offer a fine arts experience for everyone at an affordable price. We want to give your child the opportunity to use his or her intelligence and creativity while making beautiful art.
1# Glass Fused Clocks – June 14th, Thursday
Learn to score, nip, and even bend glass using a candle flame all while making your own glass-fused animal clock. Drilling and assembly done by The Fire staff.
2# Fine Silver art Clay – June 21st, Thursday
Time to break out the torches! Design and create your own fine silver pendant. Watch staff torch your pendants during class so you can take them home the same day!
3# Glass and Ceramic Mash-Up – June 28th, Thursday
We will be experimenting with firing glass onto bisque pottery. Who would have thought you could combine the two!? It's a surprise every time! *A pottery wheel demo will be included.
4# Make Your own Ceramic Breakfast Set – July 5th, Thursday
Work with a clay slab over a bowl, in a plate, and around a cylinder. Items will need to be glazed and fired a second time outside of class. No additional fee for this. Start your morning out right with breakfast served in dish-ware Picasso would've admired! *A pottery wheel demo will be included.
5# Mosaic Frame/Photo Walk – July 12th, Thursday
We'll take disposable cameras for a stroll along College Avenue and let our budding photographers shoot a variety of fun images. Then we'll mosaic a picture frame to display these masterpieces. (Parents will need to develop film; disposable camera included in cost). Wear costumes! We have some props and we encourage you to bring some too, let's make this a blast!
6# Clay and Glass-Fused Bling! – July 19th, Thursday
Learn how to make your own beads from glass and clay. We will use a fire-proof string to create glass slides and experiment with a few techniques for making clay beads. String for making beads into a bracelet provided. *A pottery wheel demo will be included.
7# Crazy Technique Class – July 26th, Thursday
Experiment with etching, bubble blowing, taping, stickers, marbleizing and stamping your own desk tray. Gain the skills to be a pottery painting pro!
8# Recycled Glass Bowls – August 2th, Thursday
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle your way to stardom! You'll get to crush old wine bottles to create a decorative coral-like plate fit for the Louvre. Use remnant glass to design some funky pendants or magnets as well. A great project for the environmentally-savvy!
9# Screen Printing – August 9th, Thursday
Pick from a variety of designs to cut out and create a screen print stencil with. We will transfer your patterns onto a canvas bag, ceramic tile (which we will fire) and a t-shirt you bring from home. Because the beauty of screen printing is you can use it Over, and Over, and Over again!!!
10# Glass Fused Night Lights – August 16th, Thursday
Come into the light...Or at least make one! Design, snip, and score your own night light to be assembled by The Fire staff. Cozy up afterwards with some microwave smores!
Class sizes are kept to 10 children and are for children ages 8 and older. Classes are $30 and include all art supplies and a health snack. All classes are 10:00 am - noon. If you're interested in any of our classes, please stop by The Fire to register and pre-pay. Each class will be limited to six students.
